Global warming is a major threat to the world’s environment. It is everybody’s concern to avoid or reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Energy consumption throughout the world should be reduced. This starts in each and every household. Governments around the world are very alarmed about the need to reduce carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions. Collective measures of citizens and all government levels should be mobilized to achieve the global solution to our planet’s deteriorating atmosphere.
As part of environmentally sustainable projects, 100 green apartments will rise in Luton, UK. Backed by the UK government, it is an initiative to transform the city into an eco-friendly environment. The community will install solar and wind power generators, and will recycle waste materials to be used as energy to produce heat, reducing energy bills.

Another way for the government to convey its firm stance in favor of greening the Earth is a program that rewards anyone who buys energy-efficient appliances such as washing machine and refrigerator. This is just like the “cash for clunkers” programs wherein consumers were encouraged to trade-in their old, oil-burning cars for new and more energy-efficient vehicles, but this time there will be no trade-ins.

I recently found this nifty thing called the blog carnival. It’s basically a collection of posts from blogs all over the internet that are submitted, curated, and compiled into a directory post. The Smart Home Automation Guide was recently featured in the All Things Eco Blog Carnival.
The concept of a blog carnival is pretty interesting – the host gets great content on their site, and the submissions get links back to their posts. So I decided I wanted in, and set up my own carnival: the Green Sustainable Technology Carnival.
Do you have a blog where you’re writing about the technology of the sustainable future? Submit to the first blog carnival here – topics include but are not limited to smart living, smart homes, green living, the environment, and anything else that comes to mind. If you have interesting posts about how ecosystems work or, even, or better yet, how to preserve them, send them in – I’m a big dork and I love science.
